Chris Davis Honored By Rangers, Hometown Fans

Sunday was the last home game for the Texas Rangers' season.

The team marked the day by celebrating their rookie star from the home state: Longview's Chris Davis.

"Chris Davis Day" was organized by state representative Tommy Merritt and the Texas Rangers. Discount tickets were sold for the game so Longview fans could attend.

Davis said playing for his favorite team, while lobos fans can cheer him from the stands is a dream come true.

"I think it's awesome, I wish everybody could experience that," Chris told KLTV 7 Sports. "It's so hard with the draft to be able to be selected for your home town team. I think for me, it was neat but I didn't realize how cool it was going to be until I got up here. Seeing those people I grew up with in the stands cheering for me, it's a good feeling."

KLTV will much more from Chris Davis, Monday night on KLTV 7 Sports at 10.
