Jefferson County evacuation order lifted; city says use caution when going home

Beaumont evacuees in Tyler could soon be going home.

Late Friday afternoon, Jefferson County Judge Ron Walker announced the mandatory evacuation order for Beaumont will be lifted at 6:00 am tomorrow morning.

Beaumont is the home city of many of the evacuees Tyler has been playing host to.

Jefferson county officials are also asking residents to use caution if they do decide to return, and curfew hours will be in place from 11:00 pm until 5:00 am.

One additional note here, we called Susan Guthrie with the City of Tyler on Friday night and here's what evaucaees will be returning to and why you need to use caution.

The boil water notice in the City of Beaumont is still in effect and many areas still do not have power. Many businesses - including grocery stories - are still closed.

Guthrie also says for those of you who arrived by buses, those buses may not leave here till Monday to return you to your home. We'll keep you posted.
