He's a charming young boy in need of a loving home. This east Texas foster child's name is Darren, and he is cute! Maybe you're just the right one to help him. Here's his story in KLTV 7's Gift Of Love report.
Game after game, Darren can't get enough play time. He's a talkative little guy who will capture your heart quickly.
"How old are you, Darren?"
"You're six. What grade are you in?"
"He loves the rodeo. Playing outside, basketball. He likes his dog. Anything that's family oriented he really does enjoy. Spending time with the family, going to the park. Anything like that," said his CPS caseworker, Melanie Latimore.
But his family time changed 3 years ago when he was placed in foster care. Now, he waits for a forever family willing to commit to his special needs.
"He does have progressive MD, which he has already been fitted for a wheelchair and he does wear leg braces."
Despite his diagnosis, he's an energetic boy who likes to be active.
"He has good days and bad. Like today, he was walking around full of energy. This evening he may be quit tired and sore," said Latimore.
But according to Darren, he doesn't plan on resting when he gets home.
"You're going to clean?"
"Yes," said Darren.
"Are you going to clean your room?"
"Is it messy?"
"If we had a family with unconditional love, willing to accept him for who he is. He is actually a very sweet personality. He's very outgoing, very friendly," said Latimore.
But Darren will need some time to adjust to a new family and he would do best as the youngest child. He needs supportive parents, willing to help him meet the challenges of his muscular dystrophy.
But most of all, he deserves the gift of love.
"I just hope someone gives him a chance and opportunity," said Latimore.
