Options for getting rid of your Ike debris - landfill or pick up

Many of you spent your Sunday afternoon and probably most of today cleaning up your yards after Saturday's storm.

The landfill in Smith County was busy this afternoon as east Texans brought load after load of tree limbs and sticks.

Brandon Marszalek says he put his kids to work yesterday and cleaned up his entire yard.

"Well, since I'd have to bundle it up, yeah... that would have taken forever."

The landfill is located on FM 2767. The service is free if you present a City of Tyler water bill.

If you can't get to the landfill, you're asked to bundle the debris in 4 foot lengths for curbside pick up.

Residents in Longview can also have their storm debris picked up from the curb for free. They just need to call the Sanitation Department.

They can also take limbs and leaves to the compost site this week.
