Gas prices are soaring up and down the eastern coast, and here in Texas. Companies along the Texas coast have shut down refining and drilling operations.
Gas prices have been around $3.50 in east Texas for the last couple of weeks. But today, we have already seen a jump of about ten cents at some stations.
The Exxon at Troup and the Loop have signs up saying that there is no unleaded gas left. Super 1 Foods on Troup has blocked entrances to their station because there's no more gas.
And, in Hawkins, we've gotten reports that all but one gas station is out of gas.
But that's not even close to what they are seeing along the east coast, where some of our sister stations have seen some outrageous prices.
From WFIE - $4.59 a gallon tonight.
Meanwhile, in a very odd twist, crude oil on the futures market briefly sank below the $100-a-barrel mark for the first time since April.
