She's a bright and happy girl, but she's been through a lot in her life. Her name is Kelinda, and this foster child is hoping to find her forever family. Here's her story in KLTV 7's Gift of Love.
"We've got a pumpkin. We've got a panda and a chimp, a monkey."
It's a big day for 8 year old Kelinda at Build A Bear in Tyler's Broadway Square Mall.
She can be a little shy at first but warms up quickly and has a lot of love to give.
"Blow it a kiss."
She was removed from her home because of abuse and neglect, and placed in foster care 3 years ago.
"Kelinda's a real sweet girl. She likes to go to school. She's real smart. She likes to go go class and learn," said her social worker, Jennifer Hays.
"What grade are you in?" we asked her.
"What do you do in 2nd grade?"
"Color pictures, sing songs, we play and read books."
Kelinda likes riding her bike and playing t-ball but she also likes dolls and dressing up.
"I like purple, it's my favorite."
She would do best as the youngest or only child in a family. She needs a stable and nurturing home that will give her the love and attention she deserves.
"She a good kid and needs someone who is patience who will love her and see her through the rest of her life," said Hays.
