Texas Baptist Men Organization headed to help with Ike

President Bush has declared an emergency exists in Texas as Hurricane Ike gets closure clearing the way for federal aid to bolster state response.

Meanwhile, folks here in east Texas are not sitting around for evacuees to come to the area before helping out.

A group from the Texas Baptist men organization are heading to Bryan-College Station to cook as many as 20 thousand meals a day for evacuees there.

The groups works with the Red Cross to distribute the meals.

"It's a close relationship and they'll bring us the food and then we'll start cooking tomorrow," said Joe Swendson.

They loaded up today and headed out with four trucks and trailers as well as a van of supplies.
