A man who sent Tyler police on a high speed chase after breaking into a pharmacy has been arrested.

18 year old Everson Victor was just booked into the Smith County jail. He's charged with aggravated assault on a public servant. Police had been hunting for Victor since 11:30 pm last night.

That's when police responded to a burglary alarm at the Medicine Shoppe pharmacy on east Fifth street in Tyler.

Victor's vehicle was later spotted on Gentry avenue.

That's when police began a chase that sent them across north Tyler where one officer was nearly run over, and in to northeastern Smith County where Victor wrecked on county road 381.

Police set up a perimeter in the area and stopped cars coming and going while officers and a K-9 unit also searched the woods for victor.

The officer who was injured has been treated and released from a hospital.
