The re-enactment of a famous Longview bank robbery is coming back. A celebration of western heritage, Dalton Days is the true story of the Dalton gang that held up the First National Bank of Longview in May of 1894. The event was re-enacted each year by members of the Old West Cowboys Association. The event was canceled in 2003 because of funding problems, but the Gregg county Museum is bringing it back.
"Dalton Days is being revived by the museum due to intense popular demand all of the board members and people associated with the museum because for years have heard what happened to Dalton Days," said Allison Peacock of the Gregg County Historical Museum. "We're very excited about bringing it back to the people of Longview and Gregg County." The event will take place in April to coincide with the Longview rodeo.
