Memorial scheduled for long-time east Texas radio personality

He shared his personality on the radio and gave his all to the East Texas Balloon Race.

This past weekend, 61 year old Ed Cearley died at his Florida home from a heart attack.

Cearley was the general manger of KYKX Radio for nearly ten years.

"He was always happy and he was always jovial, and he was always looking for the positive side of things no matter how gloomy the issue might have been. He was always looking for the bright sunshine in whatever issues it was," said Judge Bill Stoudt, a good friend of Cearley's.

"He loved radio, and he loved KYKX and all the employees there. I've never seen a general manager or a boss that was loved by the people that he worked for," said Jon Green, another of Cearley's good friends.

A memorial service for Ed Cearley will be held this Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Longview at 2:00 pm.
