A K-9 search leads to hundreds of pounds of marijuana being confiscated in Rusk County last week.
A 2008 Dodge Van Caravan was stopped by K-9 unit Jason Smith on US Highway 59 last Wednesday, for two traffic violations. Deputy Smith then asked the K-9 unit asked if he could search the van, and the driver consented.
After searching the van, Deputy Smith located about 329 pounds of marijuana in the rear area of the vehicle. The street value of the marijuana is estimated to be at around $200,000.
The driver was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
