Grand Saline woman awakened by stab wounds to stomach

A Grand Saline woman was awakened last night by a man stabbing her in the stomach, according to the Van Zandt County Sheriff's department.

The victim, Tammy Adams, said that she was sleeping in her home around 10:00 pm on Highway 110 just south of Grand Saline last night when an unidentified man stabbed her in her lower abdomen while she was in bed.

In giving a description of the alleged attacker, she said she thought the man was Hispanic, and that he was wearing dark clothing. Adams also said the man fled through her window and ran away. She was taken to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler by helicopter, where she's said to be in good condition.
