A convicted East Texas killer apologized to the victim's family before he was executed Thursday night for the 1994 slaying of a Longview man during a car jacking. The victim was 75-year-old Willard Davis, who gave up a vehicle toT.J. Jones and three companions, but was shot anyway. Jones was 17 at the time of the slaying. Prosecutors say he was the trigger man. He was put to death by lethal injection in Huntsville attended by his family members and Davis family members. Jones was 25 years old. He is the 20th inmate to be put to death in Texas this year.
