Longview Police's prostitution sting targets 'johns'

Longview police officers go undercover and arrest nearly a dozen men in a prostitution sting.   Using female officers, posing as prostitutes, police organized the sting Friday on Marshall Avenue.  Eleven men were taken in custody ranging in ages from mid 20s to mid 50s.  All were charged with prostitution.

Police say the objective of these type of stings is simple.

"We're trying to basically just run the prostitution problem out of Longview," said Longview Police Sergeant David Scott.  "We're going to keep doing this kind of vice operation over and over again until the buyers get a basic understanding that it's not going to happen here and the prostitutes realize they're going to have to go somewhere else."  On average, Longview police hold these prostitution stings twice a year.
