Hard work has paid off for a group of east Texas teachers. Teachers at Chapel Hill Middle School were handed bonus incentive checks this afternoon.
The faculty split $90,000 as part of the "Texas Educator Excellence Grant."
"They're over-worked, and they're under-paid and this TEEG grant is a great opportunity to give back to our employees for a job well done," said Lisa McCreary, the principal of the middle school.
"It was a little bit more than I thought, so take a little bit for myself and...I'll go shoe-shopping," shared Susanna Claussen, a teacher at the school.
The school has qualified to apply for a $100,000 grant for this next school year as well. It's all based on their academic acheivements and high enrollment.
