Pirates Pilage, Plunder, Put On Pads & Progress

2007 was a breakout year for the Pine Tree Pirates. In 2008, they couldn't wait to get back into the pads.

"All the hard hitting, that's what I've been waiting for," Pine Tree wide receiver Johnathan Flores said. "Ever since last season ended, I couldn't wait to get the pads back on and start hitting again."

"Today putting the pads back on," head coach Tim Russell said, "just added a little pep in our step."

Last year, Pine Tree finished 5-5, their best season since 2002. This year the Pirates want to build on that and keep the excitement coming.

"It gives us a sense of excitement," center Adam Gibbons said, "because we know we changed the program around last year and all we can do is go up."

"The countless hours in the weight room and the countless running, it's going to pay off once we get back on the field and start hitting and get ready for Friday nights."

"We expect to do better than the year before," Flores said. "We've been getting better every season, and this year we expect to keep getting better."
