Tax-free weekend kicks off; shoppers coming to Tyler for deals

Tax-free bargains kick off the back-to-school rush this weekend.

The 10th annual tax free weekend kicked off this morning in Texas, waiving the sales tax on most clothing and shoes under $100.

Shoppers we ran into today told KLTV 7 with rising gas and food prices, they'll take all the help they can get.

"At the end of the day, it gets really really tight trying to shop for three kids in school and the school supplies, so when you get a tax break, you'll travel a little ways to get there," said Ellen Jenkins, who traveled from Rusk to Tyler to shop today.
