If you live in the city of Tyler, you're probably going to see an increase in your property taxes this year. The city's proposed budget was presented to the city council today.
It calls for a property tax rate adjustment that will increase the rate one-half cent from 19.90 cents per $100 valuation to 20.4 cents per $100 valuation.
The city says the property tax rate is still the lowest among cities of similar size in Texas.
The proposed raise comes on the heels of the TISD bond proposal and the Smith county jail bond proposals - two more ways certain Smith county residents would see raises in their property taxes.
