The third defendant in the Mineola child sex ring case was back in court today as the trial of Patrick 'Booger Red' Kelly continued after a week of testimony.
For four days, Texas Ranger Phillip Kemp has been on the witness stand. Kemp was the lead investigator early on in the case.
Jurors also heard testimony from one of the child sex ring victims, a little boy who is now 9 years old.
"Why were you afraid of Booger Red," Smith County assistant DA Joe Murphy asked the boy.
"Because Booger Red is...the meanest guy I know," replied the boy. "Are you still afraid of him," asked Murphy. "Umm...kind of," replied the boy.
Tina Brumbelow, one of Kelly's defense attorneys, also questioned the boy. "When ya'll watched these videos, what was on the videos?"
"Bad stuff," said the child. "And when we're talking about the bad stuff, again, are we talking about the rubbing," asked Brumbelow. "Yes," replied the boy.
The trial is expected to continue at 8:00 am tomorrow morning.
