Tyler Firefighters Pass The Boot For Charity

East Texas firefighters were at the mall this weekend, but they weren't shopping.  They were out to "pass the boot" and raise money for muscular dystrophy.

It's an annual affair for firefighters nationwide, as one weekend a year they raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

With the tax-free weekend, they think they picked the right time.

Tyler firefighter Morgan Herron said, "We sort of kept that in mind when we planned it. We thought there would be a crowd at the mall. Maybe they could take some of their tax savings and give it to the kids."

It proved to be a good weekend for both the firefighters and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Over the two days at the mall, they collected over seventeen hundred dollars.
