WNBA Rookie Franklin Comes Home To Tyler

Before she was a Monarch or an Aggie, she was a John Tyler Lion.

WNBA rookie, Tyler's own, A'Quonesia Franklin is back in her hometown for a short break.  KLTV 7 Sports caught up with A'Quonesia Wednesday afternoon.

A'Quonesia was drafted in April by the Sacramento Monarchs. When we spoke after the draft, she said going pro had not sunk in yet.

Well, things change.

"I think just playing against all the people I grew up watching, Sheryl Swoops, Sue Bird and different people like that," A'Quonesia said. "Just playing against them and being on the same court as them, I just realize now that hey I'm playing against Sheryl Swoops. Hey, I'm playing against Lisa Leslie. So, those are the times I have those moments."

A'Quonesia said even in California, she still feels the support of fans from Tyler.

"It means a lot to me," she said. "I was born here, started off here. The community has been great. They are great supporters of me and it's just an honor to have your community behind you."
