Hornets Ready For Some Football

August 4th was the first day two-a-days were allowed in the state and at exactly 12:01 a.m. the Athens Hornets stepped into their field house, getting an early jump on the season.

After making the playoffs for the first time in 11 years, the Hornets could not wait to get back on the field.

"It's what we've been waiting for since last March," defensive tackle Folander Brown said.

"This is one of those deals we started a few years ago just to make sure that it built some excitement," coach Jim Wommack said.

"It's great because three years ago, it wasn't like this," Brown added.

"Last year was exciting," Coach Wommack said. "If you look around here, there are former Hornets out here and current Hornets. It's exciting to see, not just what last year did, but us being here while in stability. That right there plays a huge role in what we are doing and what we plan to continue to do."
