Museum Shows Collection of a Lifetime

A lot of people collect sports memorabilia, but Joe Freeman has the collection of a lifetime.

Freeman's collection took up the entire back room at the New London Museum this week. Freeman started collecting in 1955, and has hundreds of autographs from legends like Roger Staubach, Tom Landry, James Street, John David Crow, and Doak Walker. His collection is who's who of Texas football, including every issue of Texas Football Magazine.

And he said he's still got more to show.

"I didn't really know what I had when I put it in here," Freeman said. "Everything's been in my house in stacks. This is the first time I've ever seen it all out, except I still have this much at home."

Reid Kerr can be reached at rkerr@kltv.com.
