The Caldwell Zoo in Tyler has been named as one of the top 60 zoos in America by Intrepid Traveler magazine, and Caldwell Zoo's East Africa Exhibit ranked as one of the 25 must-see exhibits.
Authors Allen Nyhuis and Jon Wassner, journalists from the Intrepid Traveler, noted that the Caldwell Zoo offers a wide variety of exotic animals, in beautiful, naturalistic settings, and that the zoo is a great value and well worth the trip.
"We were thrilled to hear that our Zoo was highlighted as a must-see zoo, said Hayes Caldwell, the Zoo's Executive Director. "There are so many great zoos in the U.S. It's an honor to have our East Africa exhibit recognized as one of the best. We know that families are looking for quality, affordable experiences and the Caldwell Zoo is definitely one of those."
To celebrate its distinguished East Africa exhibit, the Caldwell Zoo is offering families a special opportunity to explore one of the best zoos in America, during its Super Safari Saturdays. Every Saturday, during the month of August, visitors can buy one ticket and get another ticket for the same or lesser value for free.
The Caldwell Zoo is open daily, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Labor Day and then 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily. Admission is $8.50 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12.
