Southwest Juco Ranks Rangers For Repeat

The Kilgore Rangers are picked to repeat as champions of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference. The coaches poll names Kilgore, but Rangers coach J.J. Eckert says we'll just have to see.

"Oh, that preseason stuff, you know how that goes," Eckert told KLTV. "A lot of times there's not a whole lot of stock to it. The big thing for us is to go out and be the best team we can be. Obviously we had some success last year, didn't finish the season the way we wanted to, but we've got a couple of guys back, and hopefully we can grow into the team we need to be."

Kilgore was 8-4 last season, falling to Gulf Coast Community College in the Heart of Texas Bowl. The Rangers begin the season ranked #14 nationally.

Arkansas Baptist, in their first year as a part of the SWJCFC, is picked to finish eighth.
