It is quickly become one of the running subplots at training camp: Terrell Owens versus Adam Jones.
So far it has been competitive and friendly, but with plenty of trash talking.
"Anything that's going to happen between me and Adam, I'm going to get the best of him," Terrell Owens smiled. "Regardless of what he says."
"No, he's not going to beat me everyday," Adam Jones said. "Did he beat me yesterday? Alright, then. So, he's supposed to say that."
Actually Terrell did beat Jones. The highlight of the matchup came Sunday in a one-on-one drill when T.O.'s double move left Jones faked out and got the crowd going. But the reality is the cornerback and the wide receiver have a huge advantage in the one-on-one drills.
The fact that Jones keeps coming back for more, says a lot about his competitive nature.
"I've seen guys count in the line to see who they have to cover," Coach Wade Phillips said. "So, he went the other way. He counted and made sure he went against the best."
"There's going to be some battles," Terrell said. "Whether it's some defensive lineman, offensive lineman, it's going to be some linebackers and running backs and with Adam it's obviously going to be defensive back versus receiver. So it's all in fun. We're just trying to come out here and practice and get each other better."
"You know me," Adam Jones said. "We're going to compete everyday. I think I'm the best, he thinks he's the best and that's what makes us better. I know on Sunday that my job will be a whole lot easier."
