She's an enthusiastic east Texan whose gift idea lead her to become an east Texas author.
Mary Ellen Wilson's book is called 'The World According To Cutie Patootie', and as KLTV 7's Lakecia Shockley shows you, it's a book that takes a different look to the time before children enter the world.
"In the tiny land of womb rooms, into the other world."
Mary Ellen Wilson never imagined the book she wrote for a baby shower gift would reach the world.
"I actually wanted to make a gift for my sister-in-law. I made her a diaper bag and thought it would be great if I could write a story about the baby."
That's when her book, 'The World According To Cutie Patootie' was about to be shared.
"I didn't know anyone at the shower, so I would watch and see what their expressions were. The woman sitting next to me said if you wrote this I would get it copyrighted now."
A few months later Tate Publishing offered Mary Ellen a book writer's dream.
"One of the most exciting things I did after I knew it was going to be published I went to Google, typed in Mary Ellen Wilson and cutie patootie and it was there!"
"The hardest part of the book was writing it without a pronoun - a him, or her or any clue. It had to be baby, baby cutie, baby cutie patootie."
Mary Ellen's book shows you a baby's adventure in the womb leading up to delivery.
And for this east Texas author, this book is just the beginning.
"I'm now working on The Alphabet According to Cutie Patootie, Cutie Patootie's Taste Adventure, and Cutie Patootie and grandpa Grouch Pants," she told us.
Mary Ellen will be at Books A Million in Longview tomorrow for a book signing from one to three.
If you don't make it, her books are sold at Hastings, Barnes and Noble, and on Amazon.com.
