Cowboys Arrive In Oxnard With High Expectations

Wade Phillips declared that his team should, "Get their ring fingers ready." Thursday night, Coach Phillips was more focused on getting his players ready.

The Cowboys are scheduled for their first practice of training camp on Friday. The team arrived in Oxnard, California Thursday.

The team plane was reportedly delayed because of some ground equipment problems at DFW International Airport, but the team they landed safe and sound. Hundreds of fans greeted the Cowboys in Oxnard, getting some autographs in as well.

Last year, Jerry Jones predicted a Super Bowl. During his first press conference at camp, Jones stopped short of that prediction this year. After a 13-3 season in 2007, there are high expectations for the Cowboys. Players and staff are well aware of that.

The Cowboys have not won a playoff game in 12 seasons.

"We're going to take this, at the risk of a cliche, I'm going to take this one day at a time to the extent that you can have the times to do that," team owner Jerry Jones said. "I'm going to enjoy everyday of it."

"We're not in the predicting business," Coach Wade Phillips said. "I'm in the coaching business. I'm going to coach the way that I coach which will hopefully be the best for our players."

"People think that we have the chance to have a good season," said quarterback Tony Romo. "I know we're excited. We worked hard this off season and we'll see what happens."
