Lady's First: Ridgle Wins Athens Bass Tournament

In the sports world, we cover quite a few fishing tournaments throughout the year and typically we show the prize winners holding up their big catch.

Usually those winners are male. But not this week in Athens.

Pam Ridgle of Brownsboro won the Athens Bass Club Tuesday night tournament by catching a 21 1/4 inch, 5.3 pound largemouth bass.

Quite a few women fish, but female anglers are not always in the spotlight. KLTV 7Sports asked Pam how it felt to be the first woman to win the tournament.

"All the guys there were very supportive last night and congratulated me," she said. "It was kind of a neat deal. I've never competed with men, other than this tournament. I have fished the Women's Bass Master tour just kind of off and on, hit or miss. I have three small children so sometimes it's hard to make those tournaments, but I really enjoy doing it."
