Another Dream Come True: Kelly Poses For Rookie Card

Millions of kids and adults all across the country spend time each season collecting cards of the latest and next greatest players in the NFL.

Longview's Malcolm Kelly will be the face and name on one of those cards this season.

Malcolm was one of 34 draft picks to pose at the L.A. Coliseum for Upper Deck Company. Malcolm said it's just one more dream come true, posing to be on the same cards he collected as a kid.

"Growing up you know, you get Upper Deck cards. I had (Michael) Jordan rookie cards and stuff like that," Malcolm said. "So, knowing that's the top card and actually being able to open it up and see yourself, it lets you know that you are there. You haven't made it yet. You still have to go out there and perform."

"The playbook is hard but you know, it's just like homework. You'll get to know it. I expect to play this year. I expect to contribute to the team. That's what they picked you for. They expect that out of you. So, I'm going to give them a little bit of what they expected and a little bit more."

With the smallest enrollment in District 17-5A, and really across the entire classification, Lindale could use that as an excuse for a sub-par season. But under defensive coordinator, turned head coach Chris Cochran, that won't be the case.
