After serving in the war in Afghanistan for 15 months, a proud sailor Grandmother is back in east Texas.
It was all cheers and hugs this afternoon in Longview as east Texans welcomed home US Navy Reserves Chief Robin Kay.
Kay was met by her son, daughter-in-law, and her 2 1/2 year old grandson Riley, who she hasn't seen since he was one.
"Welcome Home Soldiers" and the Patriotic Guard also gave Chief Kay a full flag welcome.
"I wasn't expecting any of this. My heart was beating fast. It's so great to be back from Afghanistan."
"I'm very, very lucky and very fortunate I can home in one peace, all ten fingers, ten toes, to a family and to a wonderful homecoming."
The good news is Chief Kay is here to stay. After serving in the US Navy Reserves for 18 years, she is home for good in east Texas.
