Proud Of East Texas: Brad Maule

Most people recognize Brad Maule from his role as Dr. Tony Jones on General Hospital, a role he played for 22 years.  Younger fans may recognize him from his role as Ashley Simpson's dad in Seventh Heaven.  Maule, who grew up in a small West Texas town, got his theatre training at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches.

After graduation from SFA, Maule headed for Hollywood.  After six weeks without work and only $11 in his pocket, Maule got his first job with the Serendipity Singers.  What Maule calls his Cinderella Moment came when he subbed for Andy Gibb in the American Movie Awards.  He was a big hit and was offered a job by the producer of General Hospital, who had been in the audience.

After 22 years in General Hospital, Maule retired to Nacogdoches, but that retirement didn't last long.  He now teaches cinematography at SFA, and is the host of the TV series Texas County Line and has just directed, co-written and acted in the movie Billy Stay.  It seems that Brad Maule's future may soon outshine his past.

Texas County Line airs Sundays at 5:00 p.m. on KLTV 7.
