When State Representative Leo Berman was drafted into the Army in 1954, he never dreamed that 22 years later he would retire from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. At the top of his Officer training School class, Berman was to serve two tours of duty in Vietnam, first as an advisor and later as a Battalion Commander. Among his many awards for bravery are four Bronze Stars, a Meritorious Service Medal and nine Air Medals.
Berman is in his fifth term in the Texas House of Representatives. He often wears hs Army uniform to patriotic ceremonies.
