One person narrowly escapes an early morning blaze in Smith County.

Whitehouse and Flint-Gresham Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the blaze in the 10000 block of Shadow Wood Circle near Whitehouse.

The fire was first reported around 3:45a.m.

When our crew arrived on the scene around 4a.m. flames already gutted the home and sent embers and smoke flying into the air.

Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton told us he is on the scene investigating and found the blaze started in the front living room portion of the home.

Seaton said one person was inside at the time of the fire, he said that person barely made it out in time.
