Day one of the Texas State Open at the Cascades in Tyler was Thursday. It's the third year the Cascades has played host to the Open, and it will not be the last.
The contract with the Northern Texas PGA to hold the event in Tyler was set to expire this year but officials signed a new deal last night to keep it at the Cascades for 2009. Organizers would like to see Tyler become the regular home for the event.
"We've both extended the committment to 2009, with an option to continue well into the future," explains NTPGA President Darrell Crall. "It really speaks to the professionalism and the respect we have from organizations and the facility, and it speaks to hopefully a longterm future in Tyler for the Texas State Open."
