In next month's Olympic games in Beijing, East Texans will have one of their own to cheer for.
Kilgore's Kenta Bell.
Kenta qualified for a second time to represent the US in the Olympic games. He competed in the 2004 Athens games where he finished 9th.
Kenta graduated from Kilgore High School in 1995. He currently is in Atlanta preparing for Beijing. Kenta spoke with KLTV 7 Sports Director Maya Golden by phone Wednesday afternoon about walking on to a world stage for his country.
"You do so much of it by yourself," Kenta explained. "You train by yourself most of the time and you lift weights by yourself. It's like you finally get the chance to put the USA uniform on and you see the flag and you hear your song and you realize all of a sudden it's for a whole nation. It kind of gets big. It kind of settles in on you. You get butterflies in your stomach your heart beats fast. It's an amazing feeling."
