Tire Blowout Sparks High Fire Near Tyler Airport

A tire blowout sparked a high fire this morning, calling out emergency crews.

It happened just past the Tyler Airport on Highway 64 and FM 279.

"[The] tire blowed out right back up there, and I seen it smoking right yonder and I said, well, I gotta get off of here."

This morning, Floyd Clemmons says he and his wife were hauling more than 40,000 pounds of planting soil to Troup.

That's when one of his trailer tires blew out, starting a fire. He saw the smoke from his rearview mirror and pulled over.

A passing driver saw the flames and called 9-1-1.

No one was injured, but it did slow traffic down a little bit.
