Seven People Die in I-20 Head-On Crash

Seven people are confirmed dead in an I-20 crash as a westbound driver veers into Eastbound lanes.

Three of the dead are children. The other victims killed in the wreck are 4 adults.

Two people were careflighted to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, one a child and the other, an adult.

It was just before 6 o'clock when an army of emergency crews responded to the head-on collision between 2 vehicles on Interstate 20 just west of F-M 2087.

A Westbound mini-van had crossed over into the oncoming eastbound side of the freeway and crashed into another vehicle. Other drivers say the Westbound driver was zooming through traffic. The cars crashed and rolled, narrowly missing a tanker truck loaded with fuel and both vehicles began to burn.

Crews rushed to save the victims. Life flight was called in to take the driver of the second vehicle and a child from the mini van to a Tyler hospital. Then came the news that no one wanted to hear. Seven people were dead, 4 adults and 2 children.

For those who worked to save lives, it left an empty feeling knowing that all that was left to do was pray for those who died.
