Step-Mother Charged in Toddler's Murder

The dead toddler, James Thomas McGregor was actually brought to Good Shepherd Hospital yesterday when he couldn't breath.

He soon died, and the justice of the peace ordered an autopsy although no signs of foul play were present. But that autopsy found McGregor died due to blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

His step-mother, 23-year-old Jennifer Lynn Yandle of Longview was interviewed by Gregg County Sheriff's investigators about the deadly wounds on the 2-year-old.

At that time, investigators say Yandle admitted to shoving the child against the wall out of anger because he allegedly kicked her.

Based on the statement Yandle gave investigators, they charged her with murder late this evening.

Yandle's bond was set at 250-thousand dollars. There is no evidence to suspect any other person, including the child's father was involved in the toddler's death.
