Longview Police Looking For Officer Impersonator

A man posing as a law enforcement officer is wanted by Longview Police after they say he attacked a woman.

It happened around 7:00 pm Tuesday night at Willow Lake Apartments in the 1800 block of Judson Road.

Investigators say the man approached the victim's door wearing a uniform. When she opened the door, police then say he assaulted her.

Fortunately, the victim was able to fight back enough to scare the bogus officer away.

Authorities say she suffered only minor injuries, but neighbors are now worried about future attacks.

"It's frightening because how are you supposed to know that they're really a police officer when they come to the door?" said Sheila Velvin.

"This is a scary thing for all law enforcement agencies, we don't like anybody impersonating police officers it's a dangerous thing for us and a dangerous thing for the public," said Sgt. Seth Vanover with the Longview Police.

Officers say citizens should be sure that an officer is legitimate by asking for a badge and identification.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Longview Police.
