East Texas Feels the "Sting"

Soccer is growing in popularity here in the United States and so are the opportunities for East Texas players.

Sting Soccer, the oldest and most successful girls club, is now in East Texas.

Sting East Texas began tryouts Tuesday night in Tyler. Sting Soccer out of Dallas partnered with TJC, UT Tyler and the area soccer associations. The league is for competitive soccer player, giving girls exposure for the scholarships and a chance to compete state wide, nationally or internationally, while upping their game.

"The opportunities for women through TJC and UT Tyler, is phenomenal at this time. Especially for East Texas," Sting East Texas director of youth development Shannon Orr said.

"Since Sting is such a big club in Dallas, it just carried over to Tyler," said Kailie Holloway of Longview. "It's really great. We're going to get looked at by so many more coaches just because we have the name Sting."

Also a new boys club classic group, Texas Titans F.C. are holding tryouts. The group will be headed by UT Tyler men's soccer coach Kenny Jones.
