A truck driver is in the hospital and a passenger car driver has been killed in a four vehicle accident on Interstate 20 five miles west of Canton Monday.
An 18 wheeler was passing another truck in order to move ahead before I-20 moved down to one lane in a construction zone, when it slammed into a passenger car in front of the second truck, causing the car to hit the back another car in front of it, leading to the accident involving all four vehicles.
The trucker who was driving the original 18 wheeler was taken to a Terrell hospital with injuries, and the drivers of the passenger car that 18 wheeler allegedly hit was killed.
The person killed did not have an ID, and no names have been released pending notification of families.
The accident happened at mile marker 513. Traffic on I-20 is now back open after being closed for several hours for clean-up.
Troopers say that while no citations are being written at this point, the driver of the original 18 wheeler who appeared to have caused the accident could face criminal negligent homicide charges.
