One Killed In Lake Cherokee Boat Crash

A boating accident sends one person to the hospital and has divers searching for a lost victim. It happened around 10:30 last night at Lake Cherokee on the Gregg/Rusk County line, where investigators say two boats collided in the middle of the lake.

One man was seriously injured and is in a Longview hospital, and another was thrown into the water and disappeared. Rusk and Gregg County divers searched the lake last night, and again today. But so far, no signs of the missing boater.

"We are currently doing interviews with some of the occupants that were on both of the vessels, and we will determine based on those interviews if water safety rules were being followed, whether life vest were worn or not worn"  said Gregg County Sheriffs Office Lieutenant Mike Claxton.

Investigators are interviewing the boaters on the accident and will determine whether charges will be filed.
