Tyler Parks Hosting 2008 Summer Music Fest

The Tyler Parks and Recreation Department will host their Second Annual Summer Music Fest this June 27-28th.

The two day event will be held from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Bergfeld Park.

The June 27th concert features the Paul Cauthen Project.

  • The Paul Cauthen Project is an eclectic group from the Tyler area who play a mix of Texas bluegrass to jazz blues funk.  The group has toured all over Texas, Nashville, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado and parts of Utah.

The June 28 concert will feature Beyond the Pale and Randy Brown.

  • Beyond the Pale delivers a wild ride with stunning vocal harmonies and dazzling acoustic instrumental flare. Weaving the traditional music of Ireland and Scotland together with original and contemporary songs and world instrumental pieces, this quartet effortlessly spins out fiery reels and jigs, original songs, both humorous and haunting and some familiar selections with a Celtic twist.  Expect the unexpected as Beyond the Pale cooks up a tasty acoustic stew on fiddle, flute, hammered dulcimer, accordion, guitar, bodhran, whistle, concertina and saxophone. Discover your roots and expand your borders with this highly versatile never-a-dull moment band! (www.beyond-the-pale.com)

  • Randy Brown is a songwriter/folksinger whose new CD, Dream Big, deals with issues such as quantum mechanics (he's for it), and homelessness (against it).  The collection of 11 original songs range in style from hip-hop to folk to western to Dixieland. A Mineola, Texas resident, Brown has been a part of the acoustic music community in East Texas since the early 1990s.
