Rep. Gohmert Honored With Patriot Award

U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert has been recognized with the Patriot Award for his leadership in fighting to preserve Christian and conservative values. The Congressman was honored by the Texas Eagle Forum, an organization devoted to strengthening individual participation in the political process and encouraging conservative, pro-family policies.

Following the banquet Gohmert stated, "It blesses my heart to have been gathered here with people who all care so deeply about the foundation of our country and the guidance of this government.  I am truly humbled to receive such an award in the midst of these folks. We all desire to preserve the traditional values on which our founders built this nation, and knowing that we are unified in this gives me greater strength to keep fighting for these values in the places and situations that God has placed me."

Texas Eagle Forum President Cathie Adams said, "Congressman Gohmert has shown himself to be a true defender of Christian and conservative values. He works extremely hard to make sure these principles are evident in our government, despite the severe antagonism he must sometimes face as a result. We are excited to recognize his advocacy, and the Texas Eagle Forum looks forward to our continued work with Rep. Gohmert. "

Featured Speakers at the ceremony were Phyllis Schlafly, Founder of the national Eagle Forum, and Wallbuilders' President David Barton. Also participating in the event were Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Solicitor General Ted Cruz, State Senator Dan Patrick, State Representatives Bryan Hughes, Jodie Laubenberg, and Leo Berman, and Republican Party of Texas Vice Chairman Dr. Robin Armstrong.

Congressman Gohmert represents the First District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives and serves on three key House committees: Judiciary, Natural Resources, and Small Business. He can be reached at www.gohmert.house.gov.
