Accused Drug Runner Bonds Out Of Jail

An accused drug runner who was caught at an East Texas airport has bonded out of jail.

Rodney K. Dotson, 51, of Baton Rouge, bonded out on two $75,000 bonds Tuesday. Cherokee County Judge Craig Fletcher had set his bond for possession of marijuana and of a controlled substance each at $975,000, totalling at $1,950,000.

He was caught last week at the Cherokee County Airport with his plane filled with around $100,000 worth of marijuana.

The plane had flown from Stateline, Nevada, stopped in Albuquerque to refuel, and Homeland Security believe it was heading eventually for Baton Rouge.

Conditions of Dotson's release include that he surrender both his pilot's license and passport.
