One dog has died after 20 dogs and cats were seized from a Longview home this week.
According to the Gregg County Humane Society, many of the dogs and cats seized were in very poor health.
There had been a bad smell coming from a home on East Glenn Street for some time when Longview Animal Control was sent to check on it. When they arrived, they found the dogs and cats in the home, and subsequently removed them.
The dogs were reportedly in especially bad condition, with mange and fleas.
The Humane Society will not confirm the name of the woman who owned the pets, but they told KLTV 7 that she did have a history of animal hoarding.
The animals will now be kept at the Gregg County Humane Society in Longview, awaiting a custody hearing.
There is no word yet on criminal charges or if the woman will be facing them.
