Nightfall halted a man hunt in Cherokee County Wednesday.
DPS troopers started searching for Eric Pryor of Jacksonville when he ran from authorities during a routine traffic stop.
Troopers believe Pryor took off because of a parole violation. Authorities and two tracking dogs searched for Pryor in a wooded area bordered by Highway 69, farm-to-market road 855 and Highway 175. Pryor was last seen driving down F-M 855. That's when he made his escape.
"The subject slowed his vehicle, jumped out of his vehicle and began to run into the woods on foot," said Senior DPS Trooper Lynn Kelley. "The truck continued eastbound and struck a tree."
The suspect is described as a white male wearing jeans and a black and white checkered shirt. If you know Eric Pryor's whereabouts, you are urged to contact the Cherokee County Sheriff's office.
