Some Iowa-born east Texans are getting ready to ship out to Cedar Rapids, and thanks to you east Texans, they're not going empty-handed.
Everything from pet food and toiletries to electronics were dropped off at Robert E. Lee High School this week.
After hearing about their flood-ravaged home town, 4 Cedar Rapids natives decided to step up and reach out, collecting hundreds of items for flood victims. They say they couldn't have done it without a little help.
"I just want to thank all those again for all they have done," said Catherine Butschi. "It is a great feeling to know that my hometown will benefit from these donations. It is an honor to live in East Texas where many people contribute to a charitable cause."
The family is planning to hit the road tomorrow.
