"It's a dramatic improvement." says Tyler Pounds Regional Airport Director Davis Dickson. "[Security] far exceeds what we had before 9-11."
Those who run Tyler Pounds Regional say security is just getting better. With a new terminal on the way, the government is giving Pounds, along with D/FW and Victoria airports sophisticated bomb detectors... able to scan checked baggage, and sound the alert.
"Whether it be a regional airport or an international airport gets into the air transportation system, so security needs to start from large airports down to the smaller ones," Dickson says. It's planned to be up and running when the new terminal gets off the ground... hopefully by the end of next month. Most folks flying out of Pounds Field want anything that can rule out a threat of a bomb, and do it quickly.
